The benefits of using subpages

There are several benefits of using subpages on your website, including:

Organising your content in an easy-to-navigate way

Subpages can be a great way to organise your website content in a way that is easy for visitors to navigate. By grouping similar pages under one main page, you can make it simpler for visitors to find what they are looking for on your site.

Targeting keywords for SEO

Using subpages effectively is a significant strategy for enhancing Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). Each subpage on a website can be optimised for a specific set of keywords, targeting various aspects of a business or topic. This approach allows a website to cover a broader range of keywords than a single page could. For instance, a clothing retailer could have separate subpages for "men's clothing," "women's clothing," and "children's clothing," each optimised for those specific search terms.

This not only helps in ranking higher for these targeted keywords but also improves the user experience by providing more relevant and detailed content. It can increase the website's overall authority and relevance in its niche, as search engines see a comprehensive coverage of the subject.

Tips for creating effective subpages

Creating subpages on Wix can be a great way to organise your website and make it easier for your visitors to find the information they are looking for. Here are some tips for creating effective subpages:

1. Make sure that your subpages are well-organised and easy to find. You can choose to have your subpages displayed in your main site menu by changing the subpage from visible to hidden.

2. Use descriptive titles for your subpages. This will help visitors understand what each page is about at a glance.

3. Use keywords in your page titles and descriptions to help improve your website's SEO.

4. Make sure that your subpages are relevant to the main page. You don't want to confuse your visitors with poor navigation, or they might get frustrated and leave.

How to use subpages to improve your website's SEO

More pages mean more content for Google to crawl and learn about your site. However, it's very important to make sure each page is optimised for search engines.

A golden rule of SEO is that one page should be about a single topic (also called a "keyword").

This means that if you're targeting the keyword "red shoes", your page should only be about red shoes. It shouldn't be about shoes in general, not even just red shoes and black shoes – it should be specifically about red shoes.

If you try to target too many keywords on one page, the Google crawlers will get confused about the topic of the page. This can result in your page not appearing in search results for any of the keywords you're targeting.

To avoid this, make sure each of your subpages is optimised for a specific keyword. This way, you can ensure that each page is relevant to the searcher's query, and you're more likely to rank in search results.

Here are some tips for optimising your subpages for SEO:

1. Use keyword-rich titles.

Your title should be reflective of the main keyword you are targeting on the page. For example, if your keyword is "red shoes", your title could be "Red Shoes – The Perfect addition to Your Wardrobe".

2. Use keyword-rich descriptions.

Your page description is the short piece of text that appears under your title in search results. This is your chance to tell potential visitors what your page is about and convince them to click through to your site.

Make sure your description is reflective of the main keyword you're targeting and doesn't exceed 156 characters.

3. Use keyword-rich URLs.

Your URL should be short, descriptive, and include your target keyword. For example, if your keyword is "red shoes", your URL could be www.example.com/red-shoes.

4. Use keyword-rich headers.

Your headers should be reflective of the main keyword you're targeting on the page. For example, if your keyword is "red shoes", you could use a header like "Red Shoes – The Perfect addition to Your Wardrobe".

5. Use keyword-rich content.

Your content should be reflective of the main keyword you're targeting on the page. For example, if your keyword is "red shoes", your content could discuss why red shoes are the perfect addition to your wardrobe.
