How FAQs help to improve SEO
What do people want when they search for something? Answers! So if you can provide answers to common questions related to your main keywords, you're more likely to rank highly on search engine results pages. If your FAQs are simply a list of generic questions with no real purpose then the chances are high that they are doing more harm to your SEO than good.
FAQ pages are a great way to show off your website's content and improve your SEO ranking. By optimizing your FAQs page for the right keywords, you can achieve what we are all trying to do... attract more traffic from organic searches.
Thoroughly researched and written FAQs can help improve your website’s SEO ranking in a few ways.
First, they provide a valuable resource for customers, which can help keep them on your site longer. This, in turn, can reduce your bounce rate and improve your site’s ranking in Google’s search results.
Second, FAQ pages are a great opportunity to include a variety of targeted keywords throughout the content. This will help Google understand what your site is about and could result in higher rankings for those keywords.
Finding questions your customers are already asking
The best source of FAQs, that will be informative to your site visitors and customers, is to find the questions they are already asking. But, how do you do that?
Creating your own list of commonly asked FAQs
If you have been up and running for a while then you will already have a good idea of what your customers are asking on a regular basis. These questions might be things like "How long does shipping take?", "Do you offer a free trial?" and "What are your opening times?".
If you are a new business, or you haven't dealt with many customer queries, then the good thing about these types of questions is that you can create a list of questions that you think might be helpful. Questions like "What payment methods do you accept?" and "What is your returns policy?" would also be a great way to start your list of questions.
Here is the first time-saving hack! You don't need to think up all of these questions yourself. We are going to use AI writing software to come up with the questions for us. Watch this video to see how easy it is!
How easy was that! less than 40 seconds and we have a starter list of 11 FAQs that are commonly asked. You can tailor the question to your business and use a command like "Write a list of common FAQs about dog walking services" or whatever it is that your business does.
Using your site search results
If you don't have a search bar on your site already, now is the time to set one up! Wix makes it really easy to do. You can find the search bar addition in your Menu & Pages tab of the Wix editor. Simply drag and drop it onto your page and Wix will create the search results page and everything that goes with it for you.
Your site's search results are a great place to start when looking for questions to add to your FAQs page. This is because they show you the questions that people are already asking about your Wix website.
You can find your Wix site search results from the main dashboard following this pathway:
Analytics & Reports / Reports / Behaviour / Top Searches
You will notice in the video that the results for this site don't have a lot of search data, because it's relatively new. But it's worth checking out your search results to see if there are any search trends that could help your SEO.
Find the most popular topics searched for and turn them into questions for your FAQ list.
Using Google to find more questions related to your main keywords
Now we need to come up with some FAQs that are going to boost your SEO even more.
What is the purpose of SEO? of course to get found on search engines. So let's use those search engines to tell us what people are asking the most.
We are going to take our main keywords and put them into Google to see what comes up. If you don't know what your keywords are or you're just getting started with keyword research, read this article about keyword research for beginners.
Let's head to Google and get some more FAQs. In this fictional example, I am going to find some FAQs for a cosmetic tattoo studio in London and let's assume their main keyword is 'Eyebrow Tattoo London'.
Here's what I did:
First, I went to Google.com and typed in my main keyword.
Then scroll down the page to find the 'People Also Ask' section. I found a list of four questions.
Now I expand one of the questions and you will see that Google added more questions to the end of the list.
Hit expand on a few more questions and now I have a list of 12 questions that I know Google is finding very popular right now!
And that's it done! I choose the best questions that match my keyword, copy them over to the list of basic questions I already generated and I have got myself a list of SEO-boosting FAQs!
Using AI to generate keyword-rich answers
There are a number of different AI writing tools on the market that can help you generate keyword-rich content in minutes.
Jasper is one of the most popular AI writing tools available. You simply need to paste in your questions and Jasper will automatically generate the answers. Just a few basic commands will get you there. Take a look at this video where I generate some answers to some of the questions I just found on Google.
It's as simple as that.
I set up the document before we started screen recording, you can see at the start of the video I told Jasper this:
Content Brief - We told him that we wanted him to write answers to FAQs.
Tone of Voice - We asked him to be professional, although, you can input any tone of voice that matches your brand.
Keywords - We told Jasper the main keywords we want to use in the answers to the questions.
And then I simply highlighted the question and hit run (either press compose in the bottom left corner or hit Command + J which is the run command for Jasper).
You can see that Jasper answers the question and then tries to carry on writing questions of his own. You can let the AI run and come up with a full list of FAQs, but the better option is to stick to the list you found on Google.
So that's it, all that's left to do is put them onto your Wix website and your new FAQs will be boosting your website's SEO ranking in no time at all. By finding questions that people are already asking and turning them into FAQs, you can increase your website's visibility on search engines and using AI writing tools like Jasper can help you generate keyword-rich answers to those questions in minutes.
We were using the Jasper long-form writing tool in this example which is a Boss Mode feature. We have partnered up with the team at Jasper to get you 10,000 free words, so you can try out Jasper and watch your SEO ranking go through the roof!
